FAQ

I have never driven a Counterbalance Forklift before. What course do I need?

You need a NOVICE course which lasts between 3-5 days depending on how many others are training with you.

How many other students will be training at the same time as me?

Our Forklift courses are accredited by RTITB and the maximum amount of students they allow per trainer is 3. If you are 1:1 with the trainer, a NOVICE course will last 3 days and up to 5 days if the student/trainer ratio is 2:1 or 3:1.

I am registered with RTITB as a Counterbalance Forklift driver but it is due to expire soon. What course do I need?

You will need a REFRESHER course which will last a maximum of 1 day if learning with 2 other students. If you are 1:1 with the trainer then the training time is reduced to 1/2 day

Can I do theory training online?

Yes you can but only for Counterbalance and Reach Forklifts. If successful, it will reduce the attendance training time by 1 day on a NOVICE course. If unsuccessful, you will have to attend classroom theory training. Please contact us for further details on how you can complete theory training online.

I drive a Counterbalance Forklift with my current job but I am not registered with RTITB. What course do I need to become a registered operator?

If you use a Counterbalance Forklift in your current job then you will need to complete a SEMI-EXPERIENCED course to become registered. Evidence of your experience must be provided prior to starting a Semi-Experienced course. If you are unable to provide evidence then you will have to complete a NOVICE course

I am currently registered with RTITB as a Counterbalance Forklift driver but want to learn to operate a Telehandler. What course do I need?

As a registered Counterbalance Forklift driver, you will need to complete a CONVERSION course which will last 1 day if you are the only student with the trainer. Training will increase to 2 days if there is more than 1 student with the trainer

As an employer, can you provide Counterbalance Forklift training on my premises?

Yes we can. The training can be either RTITB accredited or ‘In-House’. Get in touch with us for more details

Is the training all about driving the Forklift?

No. The first part of the training is set aside for theory which lasts 1 day if the course is RTITB accredited. The middle part is practical training with a test at the end. You will need to achieve at least 80% pass mark on the theory and no more than 40 penalty points on the practical test.

When do I get to say I have completed a Forklift course?

Upon successful completion of any forklift course, you will receive a registration number, a certificate and ID card if the course is RTITB accredited. If the course is ‘In-House’ you will only receive a certificate of completion.
